Charles B. Gramp is the Chief Actuary in the Bellingham, Washington Design and Administrative Center. He joined ARIS after serving as Chief Actuary and Chief Operations Officer for Compensation and Benefits Development Co. He also served as Vice President and actuary for the American Fiduciary Corporation and Vice President and actuary for First Variable Life Insurance Company.

Charles has more than 35 years experience in employee benefit consulting and administration. His expertise includes actuarial and defined benefit and defined contribution consulting, executive benefit issues, postretirement medical plan design and funding, plan administrative systems, actuarial software system design and development and preretirement planning.

David Koenig works at Executive Benefits Design Group as Assistant in Plan Administration. He has been with Executive Benefits Design Group for over a year.

As an actuarial student, David is currently working on passing the Society of Actuaries exams to receive his Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation. David will also receive his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Western Washington University later this year.

When David is not working or studying he enjoys spending time outdoors with his lovely wife Cody. He especially enjoys playing tennis, cycling, and hiking.

Deborah Royal

Deborah Royal

Professional: Deborah worked 20 years in Early Childhood Education, including 15 years working with the Federal Head Start Program as Teacher, Parent Educator, and Site Supervisor. During summers Deborah has also worked in the fields of customer service, health care and support, and product representation. For three years Deborah had her own business as a personal beauty consultant. Because of her continuing interest in customer service and support, upon her early retirement from Head Start Deborah took her current position with Executive Benefits Design Group as the company's Receptionist. She enjoys working with clients, agents, and others to provide quality service.

Education: Deborah graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Education. She later graduated from Whatcom Community College with an ECE Certificate. She continues taking a variety of classes to expand her skills and knowledge.

Personal: Deborah lives in Bellingham, Washington, with her husband Bill. Their 8 children, some with spouses and children of their own, live in Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Munich, Germany.

In her spare time Deborah likes to dance, create crafts, plan nutritional meals, read, and write. She has designed and taught professional education classes at various conferences. Deborah is active in her Church's organizations. She is a member of a lunch time book club and "The Night Writers" writing group. At the present time she has two stories published and one pending. Deborah and her husband are the current Vice President Couple of the Rainbow Squares Square Dancing Club.

John Bremer serves clients of Executive Benefits Design Group as Director of Plan Administration, overseeing Client Services for our sister company, A.R.I.S., Inc.

John holds degrees from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and Kellogg Graduate School of Management. First as an Insurance Actuary and then as a Human Resources Senior Consultant for global public accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, John has accumulated over 35 years experience providing planning services to business, government, nonprofit organizations, and professionals. He spearheaded development and marketing of the first state prepaid tuition plan, which led to Section 529 plans. Since 1998, he has concentrated on practice building for services to employer retirement plans.

John is active on the Society of Actuaries Course 6 and Course 8 Examination Committees and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

John likes the outdoors and enjoys golf, mountain biking, and kayaking.

Marjorie Ewing

Ms Ewing oversees operations for every element of A.R.I.S. and EBDG. Her knowledge of CPA firms, corporate America, and academia in various settings gives her a depth and breadth of knowledge to rapidly assess and resolve problems, and anticipate technical, legal, and material requirements to efficiently put the personnel, space, and equipment in place to support a many faceted and complex organization.

Ms Ewing spent two years in the Tax Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Los Angeles. Her experience there led to a position at System Development Corporation in Santa Monica, where she organized the tax department and was the direct contact with IRS for company audits.

She moved to the tax department at Twentieth Century Fox and then to a small CPA firm in Orange County. An opportunity with a small start-up company gave her experience in the process of getting a tax and technology driven organization through a public offering. This experience has been invaluable while EBDG began operations. She moved with the startup to Florida and then moved to financial planning. Over the next three years Ms Ewing worked with a medium-sized CPA firm in the Fort Myers/Naples area. She retired in 1986 when her second son was born. The intervening years brought numerous opportunities to serve the communities from Fort Myers to Boca Roton, FL, Atlanta, GA, and Shoreline, WA. Along the way she supported her husband Nick Paleveda in his business dealings, so in a sense she has never been far from the business scene.

BACKGROUND: Nicholas Paleveda received a B.A. from the University of South Florida in 1977, an M.B.A. degree from the University of South Florida in 1979, a J.D. from the University of Miami in 1982 and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver in 1983. Mr. Paleveda also did his post-graduate work at Oxford University in England and Harvard University in the United States. Mr. Paleveda is a former adjunct professor at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta for the Certified Financial Planning program.

EXPERIENCE: Mr. Paleveda is one of the leading speakers in the United States in the area of Advanced Estate Planning. He has presented over 1000 seminars across the country over the past 15 years. His seminars have been featured in: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The San Diego Tribune, The Miami Herald, The Los Angeles Times, and other newspapers across the Country. In his 18 years of Estate Planning Practice, Mr. Paleveda has been a consultant to: the founding family of Coca-Cola; the current president of Kimberly-Clark Corporation; the former chairman of Philip Morris; the former president of Bausch and Lomb; the founder of Dunkin Donuts; a founding partner of Sherson, Loeb, Rhodes; the President of Exxon (Spain, retired); founding partners of Neuberger & Berman; the heirs to Corning Glass; and the President of Indiana State University (retired). Mr. Paleveda has spoken professionally at Continuing Education forums across the United States, including: the 1994 National Conference on Estate Planning in Orlando, Florida; the 1995 National Conference on Estate Planning in Tampa, Florida; the 1996 International Association for Financial Planning Conference in Atlanta; and the 1997 International Association for Financial Planning Conference on Advanced Planning in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Paleveda is a contributing author of "Life Insurance and Retirement Plans Answer Book" (Panel Publishers 1997); the author of "The Family Private Bank" and "Life Insurance Trusts in Depth"; contributing author and speaker for a series on Continuing Professional Education for CPAs, Attorneys, and Financial Planners (Published by Pathway to Excellence.); co-author of "Tax Mistakes & Genius Of The Rich & Famous" (Published by RPL Audio Books, 1998). Mr. Paleveda is also contributing author to "Life Insurance Answer Book for Qualified Plans and Estate Planning" (Panel Publishing 1997) and the author of "412(i) Defined Benefit Pension Plans".

MEMBER: Mr. Paleveda is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice in: The U.S. Tax Court; the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals; and the Supreme Court of Florida.

PERSONAL: Mr. Paleveda is an accomplished chess player who was the 1977 Florida State Chess Champion; the 1977 Southern Open Chess Champion; the 1976 National Intercollegiate Championship Chess Team Champion; and the 1994 Florida State Chess Champion. Mr. Paleveda lives in Bellingham, Washington with his wife, Marjorie and his son, Nicholas.

BACKGROUND: Peter is the Director of Underwriting at EBDG. Peter has worked in the Financial Services industry since 1995. He has worked for American Diversified Financial Services in Bellevue, WA, Beneficial Life Insurance as a Life Insurance Planner and Met-Life as a Financial Services Representative. Previously Peter owned a wholesale food processing business for 20 years, servicing hotels, restaurants, and chain food stores in the Puget Sound area.

EDUCATION: Peter received a B.A. in English education from Kean University in Union, New Jersey.

PERSONAL: Peter lives in Seattle with his wife Bobbi, a classical musician (cellist). They have four children, Leah, Sarah, Anthony, and Hannah.

Background: Priscilla hails from sunny South Africa where she graduated from Krugersdorp High School in Gauteng. She attended the Harvard Business College in Johannesburg where she graduated in Business Economics in 1961 and obtained her Secretarial Diploma in 1962.

Experience: Priscilla began her career as a Junior Shorthand Typist, working her way up the ranks until she was appointed Private & Confidential Secretary to the General Manager of the largest Sugar Milling Company in South Africa - Illovo Sugar Ltd. She was an employee of Illovo Sugar Ltd for 22 years, her last 8 years serving as the Operations Director's Personal Assistant.

Personal: Priscilla and her husband Carl both retired from Illovo Sugar Ltd and decided to settle in the US in 2002, to be closer to their daughter and son - both married to American Citizens. Their youngest son and grandchildren are still resident in South Africa. Priscilla is a keen lawn bowls player. She left South Africa as the reigning Ladies Single Champion of the Sezela Bowling Club, where she served as President of the club for many years.
